Acid Clarity
A poem by JB, written from prison.
I SEE YOU THROUGH IT ALL
THROUGH THE RAINS OF ACIDS CLARITY
I WANT IT, I NEED IT, YET I FALL
ALL OF YOUR PATIENCE IS SUCH A RARITY
I MUST STRIP THESE OLD FILTHY CLOTHES
WALK NAKED AS A NEWBORN MAN
I SEE NOW I WAS TRULY BORN OF THE WORLD
THESE NEWBORN EYES SEE COLORS OF FAITH
I SEE ME NAKED WALKING INTO OUR HEAVEN
MY DEMONS BEGGING ME TO STOP
THE WORLD SO UNSURE, YET THEY FALL INTO A GREAT RHYTHM OF UNKNOWN
WHY DO I QUESTION WHAT MUST BE WRITTEN
WHY DO I STALL AND KEEP YOU WAITING
ONLY ONE, TWO, THREE STEPS AWAY FROM A GREAT EMERALD CITY
NOW MY DEMONS BOW DOWN TO ME. THEY BEG FOR REDEMPTION
ANGELS ARE JEALOUS, YET THEY HAVE THEIR SHINING DIAMONDS ALL AROUND
I EMBRACED THE WORST, NOW I SEE THIS MUST BE TRUE
I SEEN IT, THE HATE, THE APPLICATIONS OF EVIL
THEN I FOUGHT TO SHOW ALL, TO UNITE ALL
I WAS TESTED ON EVERY LEVEL OF BEING
I NOW KNOW I AM LOVE, PURE LOVE, I MUST KEEP LOVING
NOW IT’S TIME TO STRIP MYSELF OF WHAT WAS
AND FOLLOW WHAT I’VE SEEN
ME YOU GOD LOVING THE WORLD UNCONDITIONALLY
MAY MY ACIDIC CLARITY BE AS TRUE AS THE LOVE OF GOD’S UNIVERSE
I WILL LOVE FOR ETERNITY. I FOUND YOU WAITING FOR PURE LOVE
*We forget, sometimes, that the people who’ve seen the darkest corners of this world are often the ones who know the most about light.
We forget the ones society hides … the caged, the punished, the written‑off … are still out here trying to love in a world that taught them everything but softness.
We forget that healing doesn’t only happen in safe places. Sometimes it happens in concrete rooms, under flickering lights, in the quiet hours where no one is watching.
This poem is proof.
Proof that even in the places we abandon, love is still being born.
Proof that clarity can come from acid rain, and faith can come from a man the world refuses to see.
Don’t forget them.
Don’t forget the ones who are fighting for their own redemption with nothing but memory, imagination, and a heartbeat that refuses to quit.
Love belongs to all of us … even the ones we pretend not to see.

Queen, as always I find you inspiring. The rough road gives you a profound voice. Keep on sharing.
